Casa del Bosque was completed in the winter of 2024. We returned in the winter of 2025, at the invitation of its owners, to spend two days walking through the house without a purpose beyond looking.

I — What softened

The limestone floor has settled into a slightly deeper tone under a year of bare feet and morning sunlight. The linen curtains have acquired the fold-memory that only comes from being drawn each evening. The unlacquered brass has begun to darken at the doorways it is touched most often.

“A house tells you, within a year, which of its rooms it will keep.”

What we would edit
Two decisions have proven quieter in life than in drawing. A stair rail we might now draw an inch narrower. A pantry doorway we might now hold open with a fixed panel rather than a hinge. These are small revisions, and we have written them into the studio's notes for the next residence.
